Windsor Animal Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in Northern California. Our group is devoted to rescuing and providing emergency support to animals in danger of euthanasia at the Lake County Animal Shelter.
We partner with many wonderful rescue groups throughout California.
Many of the animals you will see on this site are in other rescue groups, you will find a link to their site where you can visit them.
We also provide transport help and adoption assistance.

Please note: Unfortunately, we do not offer out of state adoptions.
Adopters must reside in Northern California. Home visits are required.
Our dogs have a rescue for life, If their adopters are no longer able to care for them, and require emergency assistance, we need to be able to get the animals back to the safety of our rescue. Logistically, that can only be done in the state of California. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Since our dogs and cats are in private foster homes, appointments are necessary to meet them. You must have a approved Adoption application on file before meeting the dogs or cats in our care. Our interest is in making the adoption a success, which means finding the best possible match between owner and animal. This means the dog or cat has a home with us until we can find their new home however long it takes.
You must have a fully fenced yard, no open pools and all resident dogs must be
spayed or neutered and current on vaccinations.
Donations are always needed to continue our mission to save animal lives.
Donations may be tax deductible under IRS regulations.
